Tim Gihring

Tim Gihring has been telling stories—in magazines, newspapers, books, and podcasts—for more than 25 years. Stories about history, art, science, politics, nature, and education. Which is to say, stories about people. He began his career with the Associated Press, spent ten years writing for Minnesota Monthly magazine before becoming its acting editor-in-chief, and is currently a writer, editor, and brand narrator for the Minneapolis Institute of Art. He is the writer, producer, and host of The Object, the museum’s award-winning podcast, which ranks among the top 20 percent of all podcasts and was recently featured as a top show on Apple Podcasts.

Throughout his career, Gihring has moved easily between traditional journalism and brand storytelling, writing for news outlets as well as universities, foundations, and Fortune 500 companies. His work has been highlighted in The New York Times and The Atlantic, honored in The Best American Food Writing, and collected in anthologies. He lives in Minneapolis with his wife and daughter, whose first months he chronicled in his popular “Debut Dad” column in the Star Tribune.
